Steel, acrylic luminaire - An early design

2015

I began designing custom LED lighting controllers around 2010, and developed a number of different luminaire designs. This one used Phillips Rebel Lumiled early high-power, low color temperature LED package. Back around 2010, high power white LED base lighting was still in its infancy.

Using a capacitance based touch interface, one could dim the lamp on and off by touching the steel base.

I weathered the cold-rolled steel enclosure in out in the elements of the Pacific Northwest for a natural patina.
